The Southern Patagonian Ice Field
The Southern Patagonian Ice Field covers the highest parts of the southern Andes Mountains between Argentina in the foreground and Chile in the background. It is the largest ice sheet on the southern hemisphere outside Antarctica. The ice sheet is drained by various glaciers both on the western side into the Pacific Ocean visible in the far background and on the Eastern side into several large lakes, from foreground to background Lago Argentino, Lago Viedma and the smaller Lago O'Higgins or Lago San Martin.
