The Aïr Mountains and Ténéré desert

The Aïr Mountains consist of a number of smaller massifs raising from a larger plateau in northern Niger at the southern edge of the Sahara desert. This view shows the mountains from west with the Ténéré desert in the background - both together form the Aïr and Ténéré Natural Reserves - Africa's largest protected area.
