Franz Josef Land from west

This view shows Franz Josef Land, a group of islands in the Russian Arctic, from northwest. The islands Alexandra Land and Prince George Land can be seen in the foreground. Franz Josef Land is located farer north than any other Russian island and only Greenland and Ellesmere Island in Canada go further north. In the far background right of this view, at the horizon, the northern part of Novaya Zemlya can be seen.
