The Shenandoah Valley
The Appalachian Mountains in the east of North America are divided into a western and an eastern part by a sequence of Valleys known as the Great Appalachian Valley. This view shows the central section of these, the Shenandoah Valley located between the Blue Ridge Mountains in the east and the Allegheny Mountains in the west. The small ridge that can be seen in the middle of the valley is the Massanutten Mountain. Further east in the right side background you can see the Atlantic Ocean with the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays.
